Light, Matter, Light is a journey through different moments that remain etched in the retina. Memory allows images extracted from context to come together as tools of information that articulate a new reading of reality, not only based on recollection but also on the imprints that remain in other ways.
Archetypal, universal images that remain in the back of the eye as disconnected structures that facilitate the reading of a parallel and imperishable reality to which art has access.
The process of drawing, the discoveries that arise during it. Its timing. The gaze slowly assimilates to the rest of the body, the hand transcribes what the eye discovers, and the mind, without thinking about anything, accesses information of which it was previously unaware.
In this entire process where time, habits, gaze, body, and hand converge, emotions emerge inevitably, and intensity materializes from the simultaneous. Thought, image, light.
This is the first time we can attend an exhibition exclusively of Alicia Jiménez’s drawings. This show brings to light a carefully curated selection of drawings that the artist has been creating on various surfaces in her daily practice for over 20 years.
Luz, materia, luz
Vacío mítico.
Inexplicable como la propia conciencia.
Austero cual experiencia implícita.
En la curva donde el mal diverge. Donde el bien se elige. Donde se unen sin carga moral. Pura electricidad.
Siglos de invisibles y visibles sostienen la vida. El tiempo se pierde y se va con ellos.
Saturno se traga a sí mismo y florece.
Entre la experiencia de ser y la de estar, entre la virtud de darse a luz repetidas veces y la de apagársela. Y, entre tanto, el ciclo vivo.
El lugar intermedio se acentúa como una X. El centro de la cruz no se sufre, está lleno de posibles vitales, de posibles visibles. Una invitación a seguir viviendo.
A los sin rostro, sin memoria, con su forma.
Materia hecha materia. Luz hecha luz.
